Position SummaryThe Media Services Technician assists in performing responsible technical work within the Media Services Department; operates technical media, audio‑visual and electronic equipment for events and performances in the convention center.
This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00‑$19.50.

About The VenueThe St. Charles Convention Center is the finest full‑service convention center in the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area. Containing over 154,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including 83,000 square feet of exhibit space, the SCCC is the perfect place for events up to 3,000 attendees. Located mere minutes away from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the St. Charles Convention Center is surrounded by multiple hotels, Historic Main Street, and the Streets of St.
Charles, giving versatility to your commute and experience rles Convention Center.
- Set up, operate and tear down all in‑house lighting, audio & video equipment and rented or client provided audio‑visual equipment.
- Perform both preventive and corrective maintenance to all in‑house Audio‑Visual equipment.
- Consult with clients regarding audiovisual requirements.
- Provide technical advising to other departments upon request.
- Troubleshoot audiovisual sound and lighting systems.
- Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent GED and one year experience in audio‑visual and technical media coordination and operation, preferably in a convention, theater, arena or hotel environment. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
- Ability to work a variable work schedule (including evenings and weekends, as required), depending upon event and business requirements.
- Experience in public facility highly preferred.
- Basic Networking/IT skills.
- Knowledge of audio‑visual equipment and electronic services in public venue settings.
- Principles and practices of media services.
- Operational characteristics of events.
- Knowledge of personal computers including PC & MAC and computerized audio‑visual systems.
- Knowledge of rigging, drone operation & camera operation.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of terminology used in entertainment/convention/public venue settings a plus.
