Overview
Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 have the following position open for the 2025-26 school year:
Fulltime position w/benefits (medical/dental insurance, flex benefits, vacation & sick leave, paid holidays, and retirement).

Responsibilities- REPORTS TO:
Building Principal and Assistant Principal - POSITION OVERVIEW:
The person in this position will assist students in the behavioral intervention program. - ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activities
- Assist in presentation of learning materials, instructional exercises, and testing in compliance with the student’s IEP
- Monitor and assist students through drill, practice, and study activities following presentation of instructional concepts
- Assist in supervision of students in the classroom, on study trip activities, in common areas, and in bus duty as directed
- Listen to students read, read to students, explain words and meanings, rephrase materials, and provide similar learning examples
- Assist students, if needed, with personal hygiene
- Perform general clerical duties for instructional personnel
- Assist in management and shaping of student behavior through use of positive reinforcement strategies
- Assist in maintaining student discipline
- Assist in maintaining neat, orderly, and effective learning environment, including designing and displaying bulletin boards (if applicable)
- Assist in maintaining a variety of reports and records
- Work with students and/ or other staff members during student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors
- Refer behavior problems to the Assistant Principal
- Drive students to alternate educational facility when necessary

- Education / Certification / Experience:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Associates Degree or Paraprofessional Certification
- Any combination of additional training and / or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities
- Experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged
- Special Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and patience
- Must be able to handle and respond to potential volatile situations and take appropriate action
- Knowledge of general concepts of child growth, development, and behavior characteristics
- Knowledge of public education goals and objectives
- Knowledge of arithmetic concepts, English, and language arts
- Ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding, patient, warm, and receptive attitude toward children
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, building staff and school community
- Ability to work effectively without close supervision
- Ability to effectively use technology in the instructional/learning process
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities
- Ability to operate and drive a vehicle, have a current driver’s license
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student matters
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all District requirements and Board policies
- Computer, tablet, various software, interactive board, copier, printer, calculator, telephone, general school/office equipment
Students
Work Environment- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, occasionally walk and stand. The employee must be able to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are usually available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity.
