Job DescriptionOrchard Farm School District is seeking a Certified English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to join our team!

Position SummaryThe ELL Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to secondary students identified as English Learners (ELs). This role focuses on developing English language proficiency while ensuring access to grade-level content through collaboration, targeted instruction, and compliance with state and federal requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate with ESOL/ELL certification (required)
- Knowledge of state standards, assessment practices, and instructional strategies
- Understanding of federal and state requirements related to English Learners, including Title III of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Instruction & Student Support
- Provide direct English language development (ELD) instruction aligned to WIDA standards
- Support students’ access to core content through push-in, co-teaching, and/or small group instruction
- Differentiate instruction to support listening, speaking, reading, and writing development
- Implement research-based strategies to support language acquisition across content areas
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Administer and interpret English language proficiency assessments, including the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs and screeners
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with district and DESE requirements
Collaboration & Support
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and language supports
- Support MTSS processes and participate in student support teams
- Participate in IEP, 504, and other student assistance teams as requested
- Assist staff in understanding effective strategies for supporting multilingual learners
Compliance & Communication
- Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements for EL identification, services, and parent notification
- Maintain required documentation (e.g., Language Use Survey, service records, communication logs)
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and program services
Professional Responsibilities
- Create lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to student needs
- Maintain accurate student records including attendance, grades, and progress monitoring
- Participate in building, grade-level, and district committees
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Prepare plans for substitute teachers as needed
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, or harassment in accordance with Board policy
