Development Project Engineer
Summary
Under general supervision, a Team Leader is responsible for engineering design tasks, including detailed calculations, plan preparation and review, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, technical specification writing, inspections, CAD, and other tasks as required.
Typical Projects
Projects include public and private infrastructure such as roads, bridges, storm water facilities, potable water systems, sanitary sewer systems, trails, parks, and site development.
Essential Functions
- Research design options, codes, and regulations; develop schematic and preliminary designs.
- Provide detailed final designs and incorporate mark-ups into drawings.
- Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design.
- Produce engineering reports and plans.
- Serve as a client contact on some projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs and prepare estimates.
- Coordinate with Surveyors, CAD Designers, and outside consultants.
- Utilize AutoCAD and/or Microstation for design documents and drawings.
- Conduct field activities during design and construction phases.
- Prepare construction specifications and review shop drawings and certifications.
Education/Experience/Licensure
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited college. Enrolled as an Engineering Intern or licensed as a Professional Engineer in Missouri.
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with occasional site visits during design or construction.
Physical Demands
Includes sitting, walking, handling objects, and driving. Must meet vision requirements. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds.
Position Type/Hours
Full-time, minimum 40 hours/week, with some evenings and weekends possible.
Travel
Occasional overnight and local day travel.
Skills and Minimum Requirements
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil and/or Micro Station.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.

- Pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid Driver's License.
