We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer or Controls Programmer who is ready to take full ownership of system design, programming, and project execution. This role is ideal for someone who has moved beyond field-only work and wants to design complete control systems, build drawing sets, write programs, and support projects through their full lifecycle. You will work on a wide range of HVAC and building automation projects and help shape the technical direction of our controls team.
If you enjoy variety, autonomy, and meaningful technical responsibility, this position offers all of that.
Candidates should meet one of the following profiles:
- 5+ years as a Controls Technician with experience in programming, system design, and drawings, or
- 3+ years as a Controls Engineer with direct design and programming responsibilities.
Applicants must have prior experience designing control systems from scratch using at least one controls platform. You will learn our system, but you must have done full design work elsewhere before.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Design and Engineering:
- Develop complete control system designs based on mechanical engineer documentation.
- Create full drawing sets from scratch, including control diagrams, network layouts, and panel layouts.
- Participate in pre-engineering site visits and job progress checks as needed.
Programming:
- Program control systems from the ground up.
- Our controllers use line-by-line programming. Experience with function block is acceptable, and line-by-line can be learned on the job.
- Develop sequences, logic, and integration strategies for a variety of HVAC systems.
Commissioning and Startup:
- Support commissioning and startup activities when project load requires it.
- While not the primary focus of the role, flexibility is important due to the cyclical nature of construction and the size of our team.
Tridium Niagara 4 (Highly Preferred):
- Experience with Niagara 4 is a major plus, especially full job setup, station design, and graphics development.
- Ability to create clean and functional user interfaces is a strong advantage.
- Travel 20 to 30 percent as required.
- Travel is primarily for pre-engineering visits, job progress checks, and commissioning support when needed.
- Travel levels vary based on project workload.
