The Family Support Division (FSD) is seeking applications for a Benefit Program Specialist as a liaison for FSD and DSDS to provide seamless communication and priority processing for the DHSS and our participants. This position is an FSD employee however the base is dependent upon applicant selected.

The FSD/DHSS liaison provides an essential connection between the Family Support Division and the Department of Health and Senior Services. Coordinated efforts and clear communication between the two departments allow for the effective delivery of services to some of Missouri’s most vulnerable population that aligns with the DSS mission. The liaison is the point of contact for inquiries from DHSS as well as community agencies and partners and prioritized requests via phone and email to ensure responses are provided expeditiously.
AdditionalDuties But Not Limited To
- Serve as the liaison between FSD & DHSS and work with units such as Vendor, HCB, BP/SAB, and MRT to help facilitate swift determinations when necessary.
- Manage e-mails and serve as primary point of contact for inquiries from DHSS agencies and facilities.
- Categorize, process, or delegate incoming requests to ensure all inquiries receive a response as quickly as possible. Common inquiries include: general Medicaid eligibility questions, review/explain case actions, clarify FSD and Federal policy and regulations, case status/updates, share educational resources.
- Provide training and guidance regarding Medicaid to DHSS agencies, providers, advocacy groups, and consumers.
- Use various eligibility and inquiry systems such as FAMIS, MEDES, ECM, eMMIS, and Healthtracks.
- Keep FSD management informed of issues airing that may need a change in process or protocol.
- Compile regular statistics concerning volume, originating agency/provider, and nature of inquiries.
- Interprets agency policies and follows established processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely determinations. Works independently and rarely requires supervisory assistance. Ability to work complex problems/issues across multiple system platforms such as FAMIS & MEDES.
Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience or 2 years of technical or professional experience within Missouri State government.

Individual(s) selected for this position may receive a higher rate based on a pay differential (e.g. shift, or time‑of‑service pay).
