Job DescriptionThe Epic clinical trainer level 1 serves as an enthusiastic, innovative, and collaborative Epic clinical trainer who is adept in both instructional design and training delivery.
Supports the Epic clinical training program and its goals, including creating synchronous and asynchronous content, curriculum and materials maintenance, schedule coordination, instructor led training, and service request/incident response. In conjunction with the application analyst teams, and informatics team this role equips end users for successful Epic (or other software) deployment, adoption, maintenance, and optimization activities.
Familiar with both end user workflows and cultivates an awareness of the backend build that allows for this functionality. Interfaces with and serves as liaison and change agent to operational customers. In an ongoing effort to identify training needs and address them, regularly rounds in their operational departments, engages in division and analyst meetings, and embeds self in project team activities.
Responsibilities- Develops, updates, and maintains Epic end-user training curriculum, lesson plans, simulations, tip sheets, and eLearning to support initial deployment, ongoing adoption, maintenance, and optimization; aligns materials to current build, policies, workflows, and roles.
- Delivers instructor‑led training (ILT) and virtual training; facilitates hands‑on practice using realistic scenarios; evaluates learner proficiency, documents completion as required, and provides targeted remediation to improve adoption and safe, efficient Epic use.
- Coordinates training logistics, schedules, rosters, and communications; partners with operational leaders, informatics, and application teams to identify training needs, plan new‑hire and update training, and confirm end‑user readiness for upgrades, workflow changes, and go‑lives.
- Provides at‑the‑elbow support during go‑lives and upgrades and responds to training‑related service requests/incidents; rounds in departments to observe workflows, gather end‑user feedback, identify adoption barriers, and recommend optimization opportunities (e.g., refresher training, tip sheets, workflow reinforcement, and change communications).
- Supports and develops the Super User program by identifying and onboarding Super Users, coordinating role‑based training and readiness activities, maintaining Super User resources and communications, and partnering with operational leaders and application teams to sustain adoption and optimization.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree
- Healthcare, Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or similar or obtained within 2 years of hire
- Preferred
Work Experience
- 2 Years
- Experience organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating multiple training and/or project tasks to meet deadlines.
- Required - 2 Years
- Experience supporting adult learning (e.g., classroom facilitation, virtual training, coaching, or content development) in a corporate training, education, informatics, or organizational development setting.
- Preferred - 2 Years
- Experience applying adult learning principles and training best practices (needs assessment, learning objectives, evaluation, and remediation) is preferred.
- Preferred - 2 Years
- Experience delivering and supporting end‑user training, education, or professional development programs (healthcare environment preferred).
- Preferred - Demonstrated skill in human relations and written, verbal, and electronic communication.
- Preferred - Proven skill in oral presentation, classroom/virtual facilitation, and small‑group coaching.
