General Production team members at Smithfield Foods play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality food by working with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for consumers.
Responsibilities- Work with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer.
- Maintain a safe, efficient production line to ensure products reach families across America.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and work overtime as production demands require.
- Perform tasks requiring continuous, repetitive movement such as grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
- Stand on concrete or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift.
- Work in proximity to animal blood and/or carcass parts.
- Operate a knife (if trained) and work in cold (approximately 20–40 °F) or warm (over 100 °F) areas.
- Work in a wet, humid, noisy environment while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel‑toed safety shoes.
- Use sanitation/cleaning chemicals and work around strong smells or odors.
- Climb, move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
- Bend, stoop, and twist repeatedly over the course of a shift; walk long distances and lift objects up to 60lbs (or overhead lifting up to 30lbs).
- May require certification to operate certain equipment.
Hourly Competitive Starting Pay – $19.20/hour. $1.00/hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift positions. Comprehensive Health Insurance, Retirement Benefits, and more. Education benefit available to full‑time and part‑time team members upon meeting eligibility requirements.
