Position Title: Steel Welder
Wage: $24.00 per hour
Shift: 1st shift, 6:00am-2:30pm (Mon-Fri)
- Set up and operate welders to hand weld products in a safe, efficient, quality, and ergonomic manner.
- Adjust welders as needed to maintain part quality.
- Set own machine for materials welded, producing little smoke or splatter.
- Produce acceptable-quality welds with good workmanship and very few rejects.
- Consistently produce at an acceptable level of productivity with some supervision.
- Produce products in fixtures and include required components.
- Produce high quality welds with good workmanship and minimal rejects.
- Complete own work to print requirements.
- Read and understand prints and symbols.
- Manufacture products to specifications without a fixture, using weld tables, prints, tapes, measures, protractor, clamps, etc.
- Professionally communicate production issues, seek clarification and resolution from front line employees and management.
- Perform tasks safely, including wearing safety glasses and gloves as described in JHA requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- MIG welding experience.
- Proficiently weld galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel.
- Ability to reach a tape measure in fractions and decimals.
- Ability to review and interpret symbols, part numbers, tolerance, data critical to quality and weld placements on blueprints.
- Work independently to complete work to print requirement.
- Apply basic math to determine dimensions needed.
- Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to work overhead.
- Walk or stand for a minimum of 8 hours with limited breaks.
- Push and pull materials, fingers, and grasp parts and components.
- Exert up to 60 pounds of force frequently.
- Pay close visual acuity to perform inspections and operate machines.
- Tolerate extremes in weather and machine temperature.
- Tolerate loud noise.
- Extensive use of power/hand tools.
- Require visual acuity to access details (prints, parts, work orders, etc.).
- Require communication skills so ideas and instructions can be given clearly and quickly and understood.
- Require the ability to distinguish between speech, machinery, and other sounds to understand instructions and directions.
