Overview

From the Patient Progression Hub, the Hospital Shift Supervisor leads CM operations across all venues on a 24-hour basis and collaborates and acts on behalf of the Patient Care Services leadership team using sound human resources and financial management principles.

The Hospital Shift Supervisor provides ongoing leadership, and coordinates and organizes personnel and other resources to meet the quality patient care functions of the organization in a safe cost-effective manner. Coordinates incoming admissions, patient flow and capacity management for CM inpatient campuses.

Collaborates to provide crisis management, interpret policy and procedure, and assure timely and effective communication and collaboration between individuals and departments.

Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership for nursing staff and the interdisciplinary patient care teams and facilitates the daily personnel, equipment, and technology resources necessary to support safe, high-quality patient and family care.
  • Leads clinical and support staff in decision-making that facilitates safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Leads with effective communication and collaboration between disparate stakeholders to achieve the common goal of safe, high quality patient care.
  • Coordinates the response to significant, planned, or unplanned events that threaten the institution's people, structures, ability to operate, assets, and/or reputation.
  • Leads the coordination of admissions and transfers of patients to Children's Mercy as the Patient Placement Supervisor role.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required and:
    • 5-7 years experience- acute or critical care experience, including at least 1 year of nursing leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse, ICU Resource Nurse, Unit Education Coordinator, Nursing Department Assistant Director/Director). OR
  • Master's Degree (MHS, MSN, or MBA preferred) and:
    • 3-5 years experience - Nursing leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse, ICU Resource Nurse, Unit Education Coordinator, Nursing Department Assistant Director/Director)
  • One of the following:
    • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse…
