Barnes Jewish Hospital – Main Campus (Pre‑op/post‑op/PACU Plaza West Tower). 4×10 rotations with start times 10:00 A/12:00 P. 24‑hour call per schedule. 90‑bed PACU.
Role OverviewPACU nurses at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital work in a fast‑paced environment that blends post‑operative care with critical‑care duties. Nurses support patients from a variety of surgical specialties—including neuro, transplant, orthopaedics, ENT, cardio‑vascular, thoracic, trauma, and spine— and collaborate with world‑renowned surgeons and anesthesiologists. The role offers exposure to cutting‑edge procedures and the opportunity to contribute to new care protocols.

Role PurposeProvides direct patient care activities—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—within the guidelines of nursing care standards.
Responsibilities- Promote patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment.
- Educate patients and families on illness management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
- Participate in patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Engage in professional development.
- Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members.
- Ensure communication of the care plan across the continuum of care.
- Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
- Assess patient preferences, barriers, and cultural needs to support involvement in care.
- Education:
Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
No prior experience required. - Supervisor

None. - License & Certification:
Registered Nurse (RN).
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. - Critical care experience preferred.
