Additional Information About The Role
In the OB Department, we provide support for inpatient and outpatient gynecology, obstetrical, and newborn care. Tasks include treatment, medication, patient teaching and discharge planning. Job is part time (24 hours per week) with 12‑hour shifts (6:30 PM–7:00 AM).
Position requires OB/L&D/Post‑Partum and/or Nursery RN experience. It involves Level I Nursery, 5 Labor and Triage Suites, 6 Private Rooms, 4 Semi‑Private Rooms, with a patient volume of 40 to 60 per month.
OverviewAs part of BJC Health Care, Parkland Health Center provides quality primary and secondary level inpatient and outpatient services in St. Francois County, Missouri. The OB Department supports both inpatient and outpatient gynecology, obstetrical, and newborn care, including treatment, medication, patient teaching, and discharge planning.
Preferred QualificationsPreferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
- Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
- Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient, family, or caregiver.
- Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
- Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
- Maintains a constant state of alertness and works safely. This is a safety‑sensitive position.
