Associate Equine Veterinarian

Overview

We are seeking an immediate, full-time, experienced equine associate veterinarian to join our predominately equine hospital. A special interest in sports medicine and lameness is preferred, but all applicants will be considered. Homestead Veterinary Hospital (HVH) is 70% equine, 25% small animal, and 5% small ruminants. We are a 7 ½ doctor practice serving a diverse caseload across all disciplines of equine sports, from backyard trail riding to high-level sport horses.

The candidate must be a great team player with exceptional communication skills to provide excellent veterinary care to our clients.

Location:

HVH is primarily an ambulatory practice with a 10,000 square foot hospital built ten years ago, featuring four stalls, two mare/foal stalls, isolation, and stocks for in-hospital cases. RVTs are present in the hospital to provide 24-hour care when necessary.

• Provide medical and surgical veterinary services as part of a predominantly equine hospital.
• Perform pre-purchase exams, lameness evaluations, regenerative medicine, ophthalmology, digital radiography, digital ultrasound, endoscopy, dentistry, CO2 laser, therapeutic laser, shockwave therapy, field surgery, reproduction, and in-house laboratory services.
• Deliver emergency care 24/7/365, with on-call duties shared and the veterinarian receiving 100% of emergency fees.
• Collaborate as a team with excellent communication to meet client expectations and maintain high standards of care.

• Experience as an equine veterinarian with an interest in sports medicine and lameness.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to work in a busy, diverse caseload environment.

The schedule is designed for a 4 to 4 ½ day work week. HVH is located just west of the St. Louis suburbs in Villa Ridge, MO. Nearby Washington, MO offers dining, shopping, and outdoor activities;
