Quality Control Technician - Food Ingredients
This role involves performing a broad range of quality testing on food ingredient products, including sensory evaluations, analytical, chemical, and physical tests for finished goods and incoming ingredients. You will work with sweet products such as inclusions for ice cream, beverage mixes, and vitamins. The position involves ensuring compliance with current specifications through testing and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality testing on food ingredient products, including sensory, analytical, chemical, and physical tests.
- Perform lab equipment calibrations and maintenance according to set procedures.
- Identify and investigate non-conformance issues and provide solutions.
- Assist with complaint investigations and review/write SOPs for the laboratory.
- Perform daily GMP inspections, in-plant process, and internal audits, including environmental compliance swabbing.
- Composite swab samples for outside micro testing.
- Document test results in LIMS and internal databases, label incoming ingredients, and release batches in the system.
- Adhere to all quality and food safety standards.
Essential Skills
- High School Diploma and 1-2 years of experience in a quality or laboratory capacity in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- BS Degree in Sciences with lab coursework.
- Understanding of basic laboratory procedures through schooling or experience.
- Proficiency in quality control, GMP, and quality assurance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable and flexible with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Able to lift 25+ pounds and willing to work in varying temperature and humidity conditions.
- No known food allergies (except peanut and fish/shellfish) or color blindness.
Work Environment
You will work in a lab/test kitchen environment with a small group of technicians. The lab has both wet and dry sides, and many products are powdered and mixed with dairy. Flexibility is required, with potential for additional hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St Charles, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.55/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
