Staff Scientist; Part-Time - Arts and Sciences, Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences

Position Summary

Assist in developing and conducting research projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and documentation of experimental results.

• Follow instructions and discussions with the principal investigator to design research protocols.
• Develop procedures for the collection, verification, and management of data.
• Assist with grant preparation and reporting.
• Perform complex statistical analysis of data and write interpretative reports.
• Verify correctness of submitted data and make recommendations based on analyses.
• Document research topics, prepare, and submit papers for publication or presentation.
• Troubleshoot equipment or test subject difficulties.
• Suggest technical or procedural improvements in testing methods.
• Conduct literature searches related to research projects.

Work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment and providing standard care to research animals.

• Master’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
• Laboratory Operations experience – 3 years.
• No specific certification or professional license is required.
• Driver’s license not required.

• Ph.D. – Doctor of Philosophy.
• Analytical problem solving, communication, computer literacy, data analysis, and data interpretation skills.

Grade R10‑H salary range: $24.59 - $41.80 per hour.
