Research Technician to work on the production and analysis of antibiotic-like compounds produced by non-pathogenic soil bacteria.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Conduct, evaluate, and maintain experiments.
- Collect data and perform analysis.
- Data management.
- Maintain safe and clean lab space.
- Train and manage undergraduates in conduct of research.
- Restock chemical and consumable inventories.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Lab environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
- Physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.
- Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
- No specific certification/professional license required.
- No specific work experience required.
- Driver's license not required.
- Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field.
- Experience in sterile technique, molecular biology, and basic biochemistry.
- Good communication, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task effectively.
- For applicants with a molecular biology or biochemistry background: expertise in routine plasmid construction, PCR experimental design and execution, clone library construction, and/or protein expression and affinity purification; proficiency in bacterial genetics strongly desired.
- For applicants with a chemistry background: expertise in reverse phase and/or normal phase chromatography, HPLC/MS use and maintenance; specific experience with small molecule chromatography/purification/quantification strongly desired.
Salary Range: $16.92 - $26.44 per hour. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including qualifications, performance, equity, market rates, and department budget.
