Location: St. Charles
Develop and maintain lasting partnerships with college professors in the Kansas City area, calling and traveling to universities to identify business opportunities, interview professors, and persuade author candidates to join Kendall Hunt publishing.
Travel seven weeks per semester, alternating with home‑office weeks and a full week on college campuses.
Responsibilities- Call and travel to colleges and universities in your territory to identify business opportunities.
- Interview professors, listening for business potential and educating them about the publishing partnership.
- Persuade author candidates with the capability to become Kendall Hunt authors.
- Partner with educators on lower‑level, high‑enrollment courses to develop more interactive and engaging materials.
- Attend college events and seminars to build relationships and promote the brand.
- Takes initiative and works independently, demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset with strong critical‑thinking skills.
- Strong desire to learn, coupled with a deep inclination to ask questions and seek answers across diverse subject matter.
- Embrace a drive to win and excel, consistently seeking improvement and outperforming in a dynamic market.
- Show persistence in overcoming challenges while adapting and being flexible.
- Demonstrate active listening, questioning, creative/critical thinking, and closing new business with prospective customers.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with professors, authors, team members, and internal employees.
- Handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and customer service.
- Identify challenges and develop practical solutions in real time to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Manage substantial independent work while engaging in team collaboration to achieve individual sales success and contribute to overall team dynamics.
- Hold a bachelor's degree, have a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the company’s corporate driving policy.
- Be willing to spend significant time on college campuses in your territory.
