Position Overview
The Trade Business Development - Architect Representative is charged with developing long‑term, mutually beneficial relationships with architects, designers, and industry organizations to generate a preference for Pella’s product portfolio, leading to an increase in project leads, favorable specifications, and high‑volume sales growth. This person will manage business relationships across our segmentation primarily through customer‑facing activities with a particular focus on the architectural design community.
Direct experience in the field of architecture and/or extensive architectural sales experience is preferred. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and a strong building design aptitude are required.
- Coordinate, promote and advance the visibility and presence of Pella’s product and service offerings within the architecture and design community.
- Actively pursue new architect and designer account prospects, and generate project leads on a weekly basis.
- Continuously develop in‑depth knowledge of architectural and design concepts, construction practices, and building codes.
- Effectively present Pella product demonstrations and continuing education courses.
- Accurately read, interpret, and take‑off blueprints.
- Possess a working knowledge of advanced window and door installation systems and the ability to communicate through drawings and specification writing.
- Have a working knowledge of building science concepts common to the architecture and design community.
- Maintain active involvement in AIA, CSI, HBA, and other relevant industry associations and events.
- Utilize assigned lead services and CRM to collect and manage account and project information (leads, activities, project information, etc.).
- Coordinate project quoting and project management within Pella systems.
- Use CRM to manage the entire sales process (accounts, projects, contacts, activities).
- Represent Pella professionally and competently, upholding the organization’s ethical and cultural standards.
- Collaborate with all team members to support Pella’s corporate culture.
- Identify and develop a focused list of architect and designer prospects to accelerate the sales team’s quoting activity.

- Present AIA Continuing Education Credit courses to architects
Direct experience in the field of architecture and/or extensive architectural sales experience is required (minimum five years). Proficiency with Microsoft Office and smart devices, and the ability to learn internal software programs and applications is needed. AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up experience is preferred.
Physical DemandsLocal travel will be the majority. Driving to and from customer/contractor locations, showrooms, and work sites (70% of time). Carrying samples up to 50 pounds, climbing, walking, sitting, and frequently driving an automobile.
