JOB DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate, supervise and perform road construction, site supervision and maintenance tasks; and run the day to day operations of the maintenance facility. The work is performed under the supervision of the District Supervisor.

* Plans daily construction projects and maintenance work. Prioritizes projects and orders needed materials and equipment.

* Plans and directs the activities of crew workers at multiple sites. Provides on-site supervision.

* Maintains the correct inventory of materials and tools for each project. Provides supplies for road and facilities maintenance.

* Documents time and materials for each projects. Prepares project reports.

* Inspects roadways, drainage, and storm sewers for needed maintenance.

* Monitors work crews for compliance with safe working methods, appropriate work methods and tool use, and work quality. Provides instruction to work crews.

* Investigates citizen complaints. Answer questions from the general public about road repairs and other problems.

* Approves bills.

* Requests underground utility location services.

* Operates backhoes, skid steers, pavers, trucks, rollers, mowers, aerial lifts, and a variety of hand tools.

* Supervises one shift of snow removal activities and operates snow and ice removal equipment to assist in trouble areas.

* Participates in on-call rotation for emergencies.

* Answers telephone calls.

* Performs custodial tasks.

* Washes trucks.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

* High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications:

* A valid Class A commercial driver's license w/air brake endorsement required.

Job experience:

* 5 years responsible highway/bridge construction/maintenance experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

* Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
