Plumbing & Mechanical Technician

2nd Shift 2pm - 12:30pm (4-Days/10-Hour Shift)

St. Charles, MO Position Summary
A Plumbing & Mechanical Technician is responsible for assembling, installing, and finishing components used in the construction of custom trailers, specialty vehicles, and mobile structures. This position utilizes plumbing skills, mechanical aptitude, and hands‑on fabrication abilities to support the complete build process of one-of‑a‑kind products.
While this role will utilize plumbing experience to install and troubleshoot water systems, fixtures, piping, and related components, most of the position will involve supporting the overall construction and assembly of custom trailers. Responsibilities may include mechanical assembly, component installation, system integration, material preparation, and assisting with various production activities based on project requirements.
This work environment is dynamic and versatile in nature, where employees are expected to wear multiple hats and contribute across multiple areas of the manufacturing process. Daily tasks and priorities may shift based on production schedules, customer requirements, and project needs. Successful team members are adaptable, mechanically inclined, and enjoy using their skilled trade experience to build unique, custom products.
Primary Responsibilities- Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies, OSHA standards, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Utilize plumbing skills to install, connect, test, and troubleshoot plumbing systems within custom trailers and specialty vehicles.
- Install water lines, drains, fixtures, pumps, tanks, valves, fittings, and related components according to drawings and specifications.
- Perform mechanical assembly and installation of components used in custom trailer construction.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Measure, cut, fit, and assemble materials and components using appropriate hand tools and power tools.
- Assist with the installation and integration of various trailer systems and components.
- Support fabrication, assembly, and finishing activities required to complete custom builds.
- Identify and communicate installation challenges, material concerns, and potential quality issues to Team Leads and Supervisors.
- Inspect completed work to ensure proper fit, function, quality, and customer requirements are met.
- Collaborate with electricians, fabricators, welders, engineers, and other production team members to complete projects.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Assist with material handling, loading, unloading, and movement of components throughout the facility.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production needs and customer commitments.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in plumbing, mechanical assembly, construction, maintenance, manufacturing, or a related skilled trade.
