Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician II

Role Overview: The Technician is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet vehicles through performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Key duties include diagnosing vehicle malfunctions, conducting annual and state-mandated inspections, and repairing systems such as engines, transmissions, electrical, and hydraulic components. The role involves documenting work, developing efficiency with company software, and executing electrical and welding tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Skills: Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience of 2-3 years in fleet maintenance or related technical training. Certifications such as ASE, Brake Inspector, or HVAC are advantageous. Essential skills include proficiency with diagnostic tools, electrical systems, welding, and a valid driver’s license. Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs, stand, bend, and operate various equipment is required.

Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations is beneficial.

Work Environment: The job entails working outdoors, in various weather conditions, and occasionally in confined or elevated spaces. It involves non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with some travel for training or business needs. The role demands attention to safety, manual dexterity, and the ability to operate multiple tools and machinery.
