Job Description Reports to

Principal and Director of Student Services

  • Provides social-emotional support to at-risk students in classrooms as needed.
  • Provides social-emotional consult services to staff.
  • Performs casework service with individual students to identify and correct personal, social or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.
  • Performs casework service with parents as individuals or in groups.
  • Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case.
  • Supervises the referral of students to outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Makes home calls to gather information on a student's background.
  • Serves as liaison between home, school, community and state agencies.
  • Keeps sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Provides group work and individual services to students.
  • Works with family groups.
  • Evaluates students for special education placement by completing the social developmental component of the case study evaluation in a timely manner.
  • Strives to minimize number of absences from duty.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as appropriate.
  • Attends special education and 504 plan meetings, as needed.
  • Observes and follows all district policies and procedures.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent or principal.
