Location: St Charles

Rate: 35 - 45 per hour (Depending on experience)

This onsite contract opportunity in St. Louis, MO supports a Research & Development organization focused on surgical equipment software within a regulated medical device environment. The role centers on manual software verification of embedded Windows software running on a 17” touchscreen surgical system. This is a contract, individual contributor position with no development or automation responsibilities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on testing with real hardware in a highly structured, quality‑driven environment. You’ll work directly with physical surgical systems, execute mature verification protocols, and produce audit‑ready documentation that plays a critical role in product safety and compliance. With additional projects anticipated beyond the initial six months, this position offers continuity, stability, and deep exposure to regulated software verification practices.

Contract Duration: 6 Months (with extensions)

Required Skills & Experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a technical discipline
  • Experience with manual software testing or software verification
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute established test protocols
  • Comfort working hands‑on with embedded systems and touchscreen UIs
  • Strong documentation skills using MS Word and Excel
  • High attention to detail and consistency in test execution
  • Ability to work fully onsite and collaborate cross‑functionally
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a medical device or other regulated environment
  • Familiarity with verification protocols and formal test result documentation
  • Experience supporting R&D and Design Quality teams

    Exposure to FDA, ISO, or similar compliance frameworks
What You Will Be Doing
  • 100% Embedded Windows Software (17” touchscreen surgical system)
Daily Responsibilities
  • 70% Hands On – Execute dry run testing and formal verification using existing protocols, interact directly with surgical equipment, and document results
  • 30% Team Collaboration – Communicate findings to engineering teams and collaborate with Design Quality on documentation reviews and compliance
