Application Software Engineer (Associate or Experienced)
Phantom Works Weapons team, St. Charles, MO (St. Louis Area). This team supports future weapons programs, including the Next Generation Cruise Missile program. The role involves high‑impact work where interdisciplinary collaboration, systems thinking, and technical creativity shape next‑generation capabilities.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software throughout the end‑to‑end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
- Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial design of software products.
- Develop interface definitions.
- Perform unit and integration testing.
- Participate in peer reviews.
- Support software system integration and testing.
- Create software documentation.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance, for which U.S. Citizenship is required.
- 1+ years of experience in C++, Python, and C#.
- 1+ years of experience with Linux development.
- 1+ years of experience with Git or a similar version control system.
- 1+ years of experience in software architecture development and open architectures.
- 1+ years of experience in network architectures and software applications that communicate through TCP/UDP based networks.
- 3 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associate Level – Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 2+ years of related work experience; or Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of directly related experience; or 10+ years of related, relevant experience.
- Experienced Level – Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience; or Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of directly related experience; or 13+ years of related, relevant experience.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
- Knowledge of host environments, including processors, operating systems, and networks; ability to build, integrate, and troubleshoot software components.
- Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies; ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics, and constraints.
- Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Knowledge of general and software development and testing tools, capability and usage – examples include compilers, linkers, debuggers, data analysis tools, graphical user interface builders, post‑processing tools, requirements management tools, and web authoring tools.
- Knowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints, and products that require software and influence architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches. Domain examples include data processing, ground support, tools, and analysis models.
- Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification processes, practices, and guidelines to ensure software development quality, performance, and safety.
- Requirement to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance; intermediate or final clearance required post‑start.
- Requirement to obtain U.S. Special Program Access.
Relocation is offered based on candidate eligibility; basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
TravelOccasional travel may be required (less than 10%).
