Job Description

Title: Bus Driver

Qualifications: Hold a minimum Class B CDL drivers license with Missouri School Bus Passenger License Endorsement. Required to complete and pass a background check as designated by the school district in accordance with Missouri State Law. Demonstrated success in performing tasks as outlined in the Responsibility list below.

Reports To: Director of Transportation

Job Goal: Periodically replace a regular driver and provide students with safe and dependable transportation.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a daily pre-trip inspection.
  • Know and understand emergency evacuation drills.
  • Must hold a minimum Class B CDL drivers license with Missouri School Bus Passenger License.
  • Operate the school bus in accordance with all traffic laws.
  • Deal with emergencies in a quiet and efficient manner.
  • Inform bus mechanic of any problems or repairs needed to the bus.
  • Maintain discipline on buses and report problems to the Director of Transportation.
  • Immediately report any accidents to the superintendent and Director of Transportation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of bus.
  • Ensure that all windows are in the up position before exiting the bus.
  • At the end of each route, physically walk to the back of the bus to check for children and items that might still be on the bus.
  • Undergo pre-employment drug screening and random drug testing throughout the school year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or superintendent.

    • Terms of Employment: On call

    Evaluation: Annually by Director of Transportation.
