Note:

Candidates selected for positions at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation may be required to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening before beginning employment. Some positions may also require applicants to participate in a Physical Abilities Demonstration and be rated as capable of performing the essential functions of this job family.

Basic Purpose

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving mechanical/technical work in the repair and maintenance of automobile, truck, boat, heavy equipment, or other engines or motors and related assemblies or in the supervision/management of a fleet maintenance or repair facility.

Typical Functions
  • Perform major and minor preventative maintenance service on state vehicles and equipment;
    Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic problems; operate diagnostic tools and computer software; weld and fabricate.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work environment; inspect and test equipment for safety and proper working order.
  • Complete paperwork and assist in writing specifications; maintain workplace inventory; order parts and supplies to maintain an inventory of parts.
