Summer Intern – Warehouse Operations

Requirements

• Supervise a team of union-represented operations employees or a departmental function in a warehouse processing or distribution center
• Oversee department workforce to ensure accurate and timely parts shipments to customers
• Provide instructions and serve as a resource on standardized work, quality standards, processes, policies, and procedures
• Support daily warehouse operations under the direction of a General Supervisor
• Assist with training, coaching, development, recognition, and engagement activities
• Support work assignments and monitor progress for safe, accurate, and timely completion
• Identify and address operational issues, resolve problems, and reduce disruptions
• Support employee training and rotation activities
• Identify improvement opportunities using layered audits and continuous improvement methods
• Support performance against safety, people, quality, responsiveness, and cost measures
• Promote workplace safety and reinforce safety rules and policies
• Apply General Motors Global Manufacturing System and lean operations principles
• Build relationships with employees, union representatives, business partners, and management
• Assist with performance evaluation and process improvement
• Maintain timekeeping, departmental records, and reports
• Recommend process improvements and support solution delivery across teams
• Complete a value-creating warehouse project and present findings to executive leadership

Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving abilities while supporting warehouse operations and employee training. Capable of applying lean operations principles and fostering relationships across various organizational levels.
