St. Isaac Jogues Catholic School is seeking a full-time Kindergarten long-term substitute teacher to guide our young students in a self-contained classroom. The teacher will be responsible for teaching all core classes, including religion. This position begins in late March and lasts through June 3, the end of the school year.
DUTIES- Live and uphold the mission and vision of the school.
- Demonstrate commitment to Catholic identity.
- Instruct students on a daily basis in the subject(s) designated.
- Contribute to a unified, sequential school wide approach to education by coordinating individual teaching goals and curriculum with those of department and of the school as a whole.
- Prepare and submit to Principal measurable learning objectives for various subjects taught and design instruction toward the goal of meeting these objectives.
- Prepare regular lesson plans for weekly/monthly review and approval of Principal.
- Attend all faculty meetings and school events at which faculty attendance is required.
- Prepare and submit required student records and reports on a timely basis.
- Provide detailed emergency lesson plans for a substitute to follow in case of teacher’s absence.
- Gear instruction to student ability while providing assistance for those needing remedial work or enrichment.
- Maintain certification. (Required BA/BS and working on + 18.)
- Prepare referrals of special student cases and submit to the proper agency/authority.
- Maintain effective communications with parents and students.
- Note any significant school problem or potential problem and refer to the proper authority.
- Perform school-related responsibilities, in addition to regular classroom instruction, as agreed upon in contract.
- All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan.
- All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.
- All teachers who are catechists (teachers of religion) must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools (or willing to obtain such certifications).
