Elementary Summer School Teacher – STEAM Literacy Summer Boot Camp (3 positions)
Reports To: Summer Discovery Coordinator
July 6 – August 6, 2026, 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., plus a 2-hour virtual training.
Compensation: $5,200 ($50.00 per hour for 104 Hours)
Summary of Duties: To help students learn STEAM and Literacy content using hands‑on activities and an online learning environment provided by the Macomb Intermediate School District. To help students develop study skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women who live in a global society. The summer camp will run from 8:30 – 11:30 with breakfast and lunch provided to students.
Candidates must attend a 2‑hour virtual professional development course on a date to be determined.
Note that the professional development time is compensated directly from the MISD.
Schedule:
• 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. daily (Monday – Friday)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches District approved program/curriculum
- Administer Pre and Post tests
- Maintain lesson plans
- Plan appropriate instruction to support student needs
- Differentiate instruction and accommodates for the needs of all learners
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
- Sets clear classroom expectations for academics and behavior
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curricular goals; establishes clear purpose and expectations for all lessons, units, projects and communicates the expectations to students
- Teachers need to be on site 45 minutes prior to camp start time and stay 45 minutes after camp dismisses for planning time and help oversee drop‑off/pick‑up and meal services.
- Monitor students when exiting and entering bus transportation
- Monitor and supervise students during breakfast and lunch
- Assess and evaluate students’ academic achievement on a weekly basis and promotes students as they accomplish their learning goals; keeps accurate records of student achievement; prepares reports of progress for students and parents
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated
- Is available to students and parents for education‑related purposes
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Summer School Coordinator
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
- Employee shall properly implement Board Policy 3122, Policy 4122, and Policy 2260 on non‑discrimination and shall comply with Federal and State laws and regulations, particularly Part 1 104 of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 CFR) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree;
Masters Preferred;
Highly Qualified in ELA and/or Science;
Teaching experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Elementary Teaching Certificate
Communication
Skills:
Read, analyze and interpret materials including assessment materials. Write with clarity. Effectively present or facilitate information and respond to questions from groups.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement differentiated lessons based on school expectations and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.

Salary: $5,200 to $5,200 Stipend
