Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate GSRP (Great Start Readiness Program) Teacher to join our team for the 2026-27 school year. Teachers will have the opportunity to work in our brand new, state‑of‑the‑art Lake Shore Early Childhood Center
, designed to provide an exceptional learning environment for our youngest learners. The ideal candidate will provide high‑quality preschool instruction to eligible four‑year‑old children, creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that fosters the intellectual, social, and emotional development of young learners. This full‑time position requires a commitment to educational excellence, collaboration with colleagues, and engagement with families to support school readiness and student success.

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with the Michigan Great Start Readiness Program guidelines and Early Childhood Standards of Quality.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and language‑rich classroom environment that supports the development of the whole child.
• Assess and monitor student development and progress using required GSRP assessment tools, providing feedback to families on an ongoing basis.
• Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the diverse developmental needs, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds of preschool students.
• Foster school readiness by incorporating play‑based learning, hands‑on activities, literacy, and early numeracy into daily instruction.
• Collaborate with co‑teachers, classroom aides, and support staff to implement individualized plans and ensure consistent learning experiences.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with families through regular communication, home visits, and parent‑teacher conferences.
• Participate in required GSRP professional development, coaching, and program evaluation activities.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation including attendance, assessments, and individualized education plans as applicable.
• Support the social‑emotional development of students by promoting positive behavior, self‑regulation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Coordinate with community partners, social service agencies, and early childhood programs to support the needs of enrolled families.
• Ensure adherence to all GSRP program requirements, district policies, and state licensing regulations.

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (required); a ZA or ZS endorsement or ability to obtain one preferred.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood (ZA) or Early Childhood‑General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, or eligibility for a GSRP classroom teacher permit.
• Knowledge of and experience with developmentally appropriate practice for preschool‑age children.
• Familiarity with Michigan's Great Start Readiness Program guidelines, the Early Childhood Standards of Quality, and required assessment tools.
• Strong understanding of child development, emergent literacy, and early learning frameworks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Experience working with children from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
• Proficiency in using technology for instruction, assessment, documentation, and communication.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment with co‑teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
