Position: Advanced Practice Professional- Rapid Care (St. Clairsville)
Location: St. Clairsville

Overview

Provide healthcare services under the supervision of a physician, conduct complete physicals, provide treatment, counsel patients, may prescribe medicine, maintain professional relationships with patients, families, co‑workers, medical staff, and administration to create a culture of service excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x‑ray and POClab tests.
  • Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Make diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
  • Obtains, compiles, and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination utilizing the Meditech EMR.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and infection management.
  • Prescribes therapy or medication – electronically when available.
  • Educates, instructs and coordinates activities with the medical assistant(s) as needed during the care and treatment of patients.
  • Provides emergency support following established policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with staff, medical staff and administration in support of operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduated from a CCNE accredited nursing program with a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • National certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support (ALS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at the discretion of the department.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Acute care, surgical, critical care, or trauma experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Near Vision Required.
  • Normal Hearing Required.
  • Manual Dexterity Required.
  • Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment.
Working Environment
  • Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues, and maintains a safe environment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates competency in patient care assessment for each patient population area served:
    Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.
