An organization in the St. Cloud area is seeking a Cost Accountant to support manufacturing operations by analyzing production costs, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, and contributing to financial decision‑making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning data into operational insight and improving cost efficiency in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities- Analyze manufacturing cost variances and prepare clear, recurring reports.
- Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical counts, and reconciliation.
- Review and close work orders while identifying root‑cause drivers of variances.
- Assist with cost estimates for new products and process changes.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams on cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Support financial close activities, including journal entries and accurate cost‑related account reporting.
- Contribute to financial statement preparation and margin analysis.
- Participate in annual standard‑cost updates and inventory valuation improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.
- 3–5 years of cost accounting experience within manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, GAAP, and inventory practices.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft business applications.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.
- Able to work independently and manage confidential information.
