A leading manufacturer in the agricultural equipment industry is seeking a Buyer to join its team in St. Cloud, Minnesota. This organization has a long-standing history of innovation in agricultural manufacturing and is recognized for producing high-quality harvesting equipment used by customers across the farming industry. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented procurement professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and enjoys collaborating across departments to support production and supply chain operations.
The Purchasing Buyer will play a key role in sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods while maintaining quality and cost standards.
- Research and identify prospective suppliers and sourcing opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Evaluate products and suppliers based on quality, pricing, delivery, and business needs
- Prepare proposals, request quotes, negotiate contracts, and secure cost-effective purchasing agreements
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and supplier agreements
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve vendor-related concerns
- Inspect and evaluate purchased materials and address quality issues as needed
- Analyze market trends and demand patterns to support sourcing strategies
- Maintain accurate procurement, inventory, vendor, and material records
- Follow up with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, and purchasing questions
- Maintain master data including delivery schedules, order quantities, and supplier terms
- Work closely with planning and production departments to support operational efficiency
- 3–5 years of purchasing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of purchasing and procurement strategies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word - Experience working with ERP systems
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Experience working with SAP or similar ERP platforms
- Experience supporting procurement operations within manufacturing or agricultural equipment industries
