JOB SUMMARY

The Expeditor monitors, prioritizes, and accelerates the flow of late, high‑priority, and special‑attention jobs through the optical lab to ensure service commitments are met. The Expeditor partners with Operations, Customer Service, Quality, and off‑site partners to resolve service‑impacting issues, support customer escalations, and provide operational insights that reduce recurring delays and improve workflow performance.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and share daily reporting with lab leadership and department leads on all late / special attention jobs.
  • Track daily actions on late / special job reports. Escalate to leadership if needed.
  • Investigate root causes and take corrective action on late jobs by tagging, rerouting, or escalating jobs for immediate production attention. Identify and physically expedite trays to the correct next department to maintain production flow and prevent further delays (if appropriate by lab).
  • Walk‑through of special jobs in the lab if needed (e.g., VIP job, expensive frame, etc.).
  • Set launch priorities based on late job status and other requests.
  • Identify and report orphan frames.
  • Inform customer service if jobs require call back or action on "orders not launched" and "frame not received". Communicate breakage, missing products, or service‑impacting issues to Customer Service, providing clear context and required actions.
  • Monitor delayed‑job workflows at outsource / off‑site locations and provide centralized oversight (better done centrally to reduce lists to nearshore).
  • Manage requests and give timely feedback on what is being done to address the issue.
  • Investigate service‑related customer complaints and follow up with the appropriate personnel to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
  • Provide on‑the‑floor operational insights that inform service improvements and reduce recurring workflow breakdowns.
  • Support Customer Support by providing real‑time workflow data, operational context, and issue visibility that contribute to CAPA development and systemic service improvements.
  • Support QA by escalating quality‑related delays or defects that impact production flow.
  • Inform QA when repeated service delays or breakage trends indicate potential systemic quality issues rather than operational ones.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of related work experience in manufacturing; experience in lab settings is preferred but not required.
  • The ability to meet measurable standards in a dynamic production environment.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Problem solving abilities.
  • LMS experience such as Opti‑facts, Commercial Opti‑facts and/or DVI experience a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
