SALARY: $26.00/hr‑$32.00/hr (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Under the supervision of the building supervisor, the Behavior Resource Specialist enhances classroom instruction by providing guided practice, cues, and behavior plan implementation support, data collection, and response for students following their behavior support plans and IEP goals.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field required.
- AA degree with equivalent work experience accepted.
- Experience working with students with challenging emotional/behavioral needs and at‑risk students with academic, social, and behavioral concerns.
- Preferred:
Significant, extensive experience working with students receiving Special Education Services.
- Ability to work with students with challenging emotional/behavioral needs and academic and social concerns.
- Knowledge of developmental and psychological links to the emotional and behavioral needs of students.
- Ability to form strong, positive relationships with students and staff to support self‑regulation and overall growth.
- Ability to foster independence, self‑esteem, and self‑confidence in students.
- Knowledge of behavior management and de‑escalation techniques.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated emotional control, patience, and persistence under extreme stress.
- Skill at maintaining acceptable tolerance levels for appropriate student behaviors.
- Ability to observe, chart, and describe student behaviors accurately.
- Team‑player who collaborates effectively with instructional staff and school resources.
- Provide positive behavioral/emotional interventions and supports for students in the behavior resource room.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement positive interventions for identified students, including setting daily, weekly, bi‑weekly, monthly, and yearly goals and activities.
- Re‑teach social skills and affective curriculum within resource rooms and classroom settings, and provide individual behavior therapy as required.
- Assist administrators with parent communication and offer parent education regarding the positive behavior support program.
- Collaborate with program and district administration to develop and implement a robust program of proactive behavior strategies.
- Work collaboratively with instructional staff to increase academic success and decrease challenging behaviors in classrooms.
- Conduct classroom observations and data collection to support behavior analysis and interventions.
- Serve as a member of the site MTSS team.
- Assist in classrooms to meet individual and group needs as requested by instructional staff.
- Collect, report, and summarize behavioral data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Frequent: walking, standing, bending, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing.
