Position: Library Associate Substitute, St. Cloud- #2026-31

Job Description

On‑call position for a Library Associate Substitute. This role is ideal for candidates who desire flexibility, supplemental income, and want to be active in a work environment without a committed schedule. Minimum availability of 8 hours per pay period is required.

Regular Duties
  • Help patrons borrow library materials.
  • Register patrons for library cards.
  • Accept payments from patrons.
  • Assist patrons in locating the resources they need.
  • Provide trusted and reliable information to patrons.
  • Create displays and conduct programs that reach diverse patron interests.
  • Keep library materials available and refreshed for patron use.
  • Ensure the library is safe and welcoming by managing the public areas.
  • Assist the public in using library computers, printers, and other technology.
  • Answer telephone calls on the main switchboard.
  • Reserve meeting and study rooms.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patron information.
Job Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • Library or customer service experience.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including building relationships across cultures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to help others with computers and technology devices.
  • Knowledge of research and information gathering techniques.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and stressful or difficult situations.
