None. Salary: $19.00/hr (starting salary for new hires).
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Diploma. Highly Qualified status (HQ) as defined by one of the following standards: 60 semester college credits with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher or Para Pro Exam (passing score of 460 or higher, with district support available). Preferred:
Similar job-related experience. Bilingual.
Position summary:
The Special Education Transportation Para educator is responsible for assisting students with special needs during transportation services, supporting student safety, behavioral needs, and daily living skills while riding District transportation.
Duties specific to this position:
Assist students with special needs on/off the bus; locate and secure seat belts or other securement devices. Assist in the loading/unloading of wheelchair-bound students and proper securement on the school bus. Be aware of special needs and medical conditions of students on assigned routes. Know emergency procedures that may include evacuations and/or health-related issues. Assist the bus driver in other duties as needed.
Essential duties:
Supervise and assist students during instructional and non-instructional activities. Maintain awareness and observe student activities/actions; assess behavior including communicating rules, expectations, and consequences. Promote School District rules, policies, procedures, Mission Statement, and Core Values. Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive learning environment. Adhere to federal, state, and district student data confidentiality and privacy laws. Observe, monitor, and communicate student progress to teachers and staff.
Perform record keeping and clerical functions to support administrators or teachers. Other duties as assigned.
Physical factors:
Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; may be exposed to adverse weather. Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing. Light Work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible force constantly to move objects.
