Associate Director Of Honors College

This position coordinates and administers comprehensive academic advising, operational processes including efforts to publicize the program and support recruitment, and student success initiatives within the Honors College. The role supports the academic progress, engagement, and timely degree completion of Honors students through integrated advising, data-informed program support, and cross-functional collaboration. Additionally, the position contributes to institutional retention and student success goals by facilitating effective program operations, supporting fiscal and administrative processes, leveraging data to inform continuous improvement, and coordinating work across multiple academic and administrative functions to support institutional student success goals.

The role operates with independent judgment in managing daily functions while aligning work with institutional policies, program standards, and strategic priorities.

Responsibilities and Results

Student Success, Advising, and Belonging – 30%

  • Provide proactive, developmental academic advising to Honors students, supporting academic planning, degree progression, and successful navigation of university requirements.
  • Evaluate requests for exceptions to Honors program requirements and determine appropriate resolutions consistent with policy, precedent, and student circumstances.
  • Design and implement student success and retention initiatives that promote academic excellence, community building, and students' sense of belonging.
  • Interpret university policies, curriculum requirements, and Honors program standards to guide student decision-making.
  • Monitor student progress, identify risk factors, and implement timely interventions that support retention, persistence, and timely degree completion.
  • Maintain accurate advising documentation and student records in institutional systems.
  • Apply individualized advising strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Serve as primary advisor to the University Honors Club, supporting student leadership development and engagement.
  • Coordinate and support signature Honors community-building activities and events, such as first-year and transition programming, retreats, showcases, and recognition activities.

Program Coordination and Operations – 15%

  • Coordinate Honors College program processes, including onboarding, curriculum tracking, and graduation verification.
  • Manage day-to-day operational workflows, resolving issues and ensuring continuity of services.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support effective delivery of Honors programming.
  • Support implementation and consistency of program requirements in alignment with institutional and Minnesota State standards.
  • Mentor and supervise student employees and graduate assistants, including training, delegation of responsibilities, and performance feedback.
  • Plan and coordinate medium-complexity projects and events involving multiple campus partners, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Evaluate operational processes and implement workflow improvements that enhance efficiency, compliance, and student service outcomes.
  • Resolve complex student, program, and operational issues requiring interpretation of university and Honors College policies and coordination across multiple offices.

Data Management and Assessment – 15%

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze data related to student participation, progression, and outcomes.
  • Generate reports and dashboards to support program evaluation and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, Honors requirements, engagement, and outcomes using institutional data systems and technologies.
  • Identify trends in student data to inform advising strategies, program improvements, and resource considerations.
  • Design and implement assessment projects and evaluation tools to measure student engagement, retention, learning, and program effectiveness.
  • Translate assessment findings into recommendations for annual priorities, student success initiatives, and program improvements.
