The City of St. Cloud Public Utilities Department is looking to hire a Treatment Facility Operator or Treatment Facility Operator – Limited position. The specific classification will be determined based on the selected applicant’s qualifications and experience. The Treatment Facility Operator is a skilled position that works in the drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities. The Treatment Facility Operator/Limited position works in the operations, maintenance and repair of the water or wastewater treatment facilities.
This position includes monitoring, oversight and operation of mechanical equipment to the required level of treatment.
- Operation and maintenance of multiple mechanical and chemical feed systems in a safe and efficient manner.
- Sampling of all stages of water and wastewater treatment processes with accordance with established procedures and regulations.
- Performs process and control and limited permit required laboratory analysis.
- Monitors and controls operations through the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, automatic controls or manual controls to ensure proper process operations are maintained.
- Responds to alarms and troubleshoots treatment upsets.
- Performs operational duties under varying weather conditions.
- Communicate with the public in a professional, respectful, and informative manner.
- Performs other work as required and assigned.
This position requires availability for a rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary Ranges- Treatment Facility Operator – Limited: $59,793 - $80,386 (AFSCME, Range 104)
- Treatment Facility Operator: $63,680 - $85,612 (AFSCME, Range 105)
