About

The Role

Our client, a well-established organization within the transportation and logistics industry, is seeking a Senior Regulatory and Compliance Accountant to lead complex accounting, tax, and compliance functions across domestic and international operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective treasury management while partnering with internal teams and external advisors across multiple jurisdictions.

This position requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional who can operate independently, manage competing priorities, and provide strategic insights that support business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, deep knowledge of tax and compliance requirements, and the ability to drive process improvements across financial operations.

Job Description
  • Lead fixed asset accounting processes, including capitalization, depreciation, tracking, and reporting for equipment and large-scale assets
  • Manage tax-related reporting tied to fixed assets, including reconciliation and monthly roll forwards
  • Track and analyze investment activity, including preparation of journal entries and quarterly performance reporting
  • Oversee financial and compliance operations for international offices, including coordination with third-party accountants and translation of financials into U.S. GAAP
  • Prepare and file various federal, state, and international tax filings, including personal property, ad valorem, and business license filings
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings and compliance reporting
  • Manage treasury activities, including cash reconciliations, liquidity monitoring, and consolidated cash flow reporting
  • Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by analyzing fixed asset activity and depreciation impacts
  • Prepare and submit required government reporting, including U.S. Census Bureau surveys and other regulatory filings
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements across all financial operations and proactively identify and mitigate risks
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within accounting and compliance functions
  • Provide financial and tax guidance on strategic initiatives and business decisions
  • Maintain accurate records related to specialized assets, including aircraft leases and related expenses
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and support cross-functional initiatives as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on regulatory compliance and tax
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Demonstrated expertise in tax accounting and multi-jurisdictional compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting international accounting operations and foreign currency translation
  • Background in transportation, logistics, or asset-intensive industries
  • Experience managing treasury functions, investments, or cash flow reporting
  • Familiarity with process improvement, automation, or system enhancements within accounting functions
