Position: Member Advisor 2

The Member Advisor 2 is responsible for building relationships with members by assisting with a variety of member service and account functions involving the accurate handling of money, new account applications, resolving account-related problems, and assisting in utilizing products and services based on the member's unique needs. This position provides assistance with CDs, basic HSAs and IRAs, and business accounts, as well as processing consumer lending and home equity applications.

This high-contact position thrives in a fast-paced, member-focused environment and helps set SCFCU apart from the competition by making a meaningful difference with members and representing the credit union in a positive and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Make meaningful connections with members to build relationships that move beyond banking and single interactions to those where members feel that we know and value them as people. Actively manage lobby traffic and workflow, while being flexible with other roles in the branch, so members are given efficient service and know that their time is valued. (30%)
  • Accurately process member transactions, secure cash drawer, maintain appropriate cash levels and necessary supplies, and balance in accordance with the credit union's balancing policy. Open, close, and maintain member accounts, including IRAs, HSAs, business, organization, estate, and guardianship/conservatorship accounts, and process consumer loan and HELOC applications. Allow members to access their safe deposit boxes and perform other duties as assigned. (20%)
  • Create a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere where you exceed the member's expectations. Follow up on all interactions when appropriate. (15%)
  • Proactively work to earn our members' business by learning about their goals and offering products and services that meet their needs. (15%)
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of policies, procedures, and regulations that affect the position, and solid knowledge about credit union loan and deposit products, services, delivery channels, and financial health. Share expertise with co-workers and members. (10%)
  • Build relationships with co-workers and strive to make this a desirable place to work. Take ownership in co-worker interactions to develop creative solutions, resolve problems, and build respectful working relationships. Be open-minded to new feedback, ideas, and processes. (10%)
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
  • Enthusiastically serve every member with whom you make contact, meeting or exceeding all credit union service standards.
  • Actively manage lobby traffic and all workflow of member service areas, while being flexible with other roles in the branch.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of all credit union products and services and cross-sell as opportunities arise.
  • Obtain and maintain knowledge of all procedures, policies, and regulations affecting the position.
  • Process member transactions and balance cash drawer with accuracy.
  • Attend all department, staff, and training meetings as requested.
  • Report certain monetary transactions and any suspicious activity, as outlined in the credit union's Bank Secrecy Act policy, to the credit union's designated BSA Officer.
  • Requirements KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS EXPERIENCE

    One year to three years of banking and lending experience.

    EDUCATION

    A high school education or GED.

    INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

    Work involves substantial personal contact with individuals inside and outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

    OTHER SKILLS

    Prior sales/retail or service industry experience. Demonstrated customer service skills and sales attitude. Thorough knowledge of credit union products and services, with emphasis on deposit accounts.
