CLINICAL TRAINEE/THERAPIST: ACT

Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) has a rewarding opportunity to serve as a Clinical Trainee or Therapist within our St Cloud Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. This position provides a continuum of services including assessment, treatment, education, and support, as well as individual, group and family therapy.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an intensive, non‑residential mental health service for persons with serious mental illness. These individuals commonly experience multiple barriers to successful functioning, including co‑occurring substance abuse or dependence, homelessness and unemployment. ACT teams help individuals treat and manage their mental illnesses and develop the skills they need for life in the community of their choice.

• A blend of treatment, rehabilitation, therapeutic, and supportive services
• Directed to persons with a serious mental illness who require intensive services
• Offered on a time‑unlimited basis and available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

• Instruct, assist, and support clients in areas such as interpersonal communication skills, community resource utilization and integration skills, crisis assistance, relapse prevention skills, health care directives, budgeting and shopping skills, healthy lifestyle skills and practices, cooking and nutrition skills, transportation skills, mental illness symptom management skills, household management skills, employment‑related skills, and integration into community living.
• Under the supervision of the Team Leader, provide evidence‑based individual, group, and family therapy interventions.
• Make changes in the treatment plan to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions are provided in response to changes in mental status/symptoms or behavior which may put the recipient at risk.
• Provide medication monitoring and education regarding health maintenance to encourage a healthy lifestyle. These activities include: assist in maintaining consistent medication regime, deliver medication, discuss purposes and benefits of medications, and report any complaints or distress about medications.
• Work collaboratively with a variety of community providers, employers, landlords, and families.
• Maintain current knowledge of the mental health service system and the ability to locate information and resources for a variety of client needs within the mental health, medical, housing and social services system.
• Participate in daily, mandatory team meetings as well as all designated team activities.
• Follow all current mandated reporter guidelines.

• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
• Clinical Trainee working towards licensure as an LP, LPCC, LICSW or LMFT.
• Mental Health Professional licensed as an LP, LPCC, LICSW or LMFT.
• Clear DHS background study.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

• Must have a clear understanding of the ACT service delivery model.
• First Aid and CPR Certification preferred.

Unlicensed Therapist Target Range – $55,000 – $65,000 (based on degree level, licensure & experience)

Licensed Therapist Target Range – $70,000 – $85,000 (based on degree level, licensure & experience)

Monday through Friday – 7:30‑4:00 PM with rotating weekend/on‑call shifts
