Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paramedic to join our emergency medical services team. This vital role involves providing immediate medical care and transportation to patients in emergency situations, ensuring their safety and well‐being from the scene of an incident to the hospital. Position

Summary
  • Demonstrate competency in trauma and medical situations and possess the knowledge and the necessary skills to provide lifesaving interventions in a pre‑hospital setting.
  • Administer emergency care and treatment and determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priority for required emergency care.
  • Provide quality care and transport of patients, assist as needed in emergency room with patient care and other departments as needed.
Core Competencies

Thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices and techniques, knowledge of how various equipment, such as a monitor or defibrillator, work and how to troubleshoot problems that may arise.

Billing & Records
  • Develop a working diagnosis based on information available.
  • Write a comprehensive report documenting the situation at the scene, exam results, orders received, treatments rendered and supplies used.
  • Obtain all billing information possible including patients’ signature for billing purposes.
Vehicle Maintenance
  • Maintain the ambulances, supplies, and equipment.
  • Clean and maintain the ambulances.
  • Inform the manager of deficiencies in supplies, etc. for ambulances.
  • Complete appropriate reports including call logs and vehicle check‑off sheets.
Safety
  • Recognize safety hazards and take corrective action; seek assistance when needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of operational policies and procedures.
  • Perform work safely, without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.
System Behavior
  • Makes a decision considering the impact of the decision on other areas.
  • Initiates collaboration with others outside the service areas.
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to the principles, values and ethics of the organization.

Customer Service
  • Paramedics demonstrate good communication with the receiving facility to get medical direction and to provide patient’s status and other critical information.
  • Complete extensive written documentation on patient condition and treatment provided, as well as understand all applicable legal, moral and ethical issues surrounding the emergency medical service.
  • Paramedics maintain communication with the patient and the family, comfort and reassure patients and be able to demonstrate concern and courtesy while maintaining confidentiality of the patient’s information.
  • Assist with patient care in the receiving facility; lift and move patients as required.
  • Provide a welcoming and educational environment for students and complete any academic assessments in a timely fashion.
Interaction with Customers/Patients
  • Takes immediate action to meet customer/patient requests or needs.
  • Listens to understand what customers/patients have to say.
  • Work with the Facility Team to meet strategic goals:
    • Assist the on‑duty supervisor as needed.
    • Assist the Charge RN as needed in the emergency room with patient care.
    • Represent the Ambulance service and hospital in a positive manner at all times.
    • Inform the supervisor of deficiencies as noted.
    • Serve as a Charge Medic.
Job Specific Competencies
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide care to patients requiring air or ground transport, ensuring optimum patient care, safety and recovery.
  • Provide care to patients to ensure optimum patient care, safety and recovery.
  • Provide consultation in their areas of expertise, in collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team.
  • Participate in and provide educational programs in EMS to ensure the continuous enhancement of skills and the improvement of patient care.
  • Represent the hospitals in private and public sponsored events and presentations.
