POSITION SUMMARY
This position may be located within a Hospital Facility, Patient Service Center (PSC), In Office Phlebotomy (IOP) or Mobile Diagnostic Services (MDS). It may provide coverage at multiple locations. Responsibilities include collection and receipt of biological specimens, entry into the company’s computer system, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and distribution to the proper analytical area. The role covers pre and post aspects of analytical testing and may perform specified analytical testing as assigned.
All functions follow the Code of Conduct and established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

- Enter and verify patient demographics, location, physician data, tests requested, collection time and date, clinical information, and other requisition details.
- Verify accuracy of entered information and appropriateness of received specimens.
- Aliquot and label specimens, deliver to the technical area, or perform initial processing and preparation for transport.
- Assist in monitoring workflow and training new employees.
Ensure that all work performed is accurate and complete. Complete documents legibly and accurately per site protocol. Follow established methods and practices. Maintain familiarity with departmental procedures. Record communications and initiate computer‑generated reports for patient reporting and quality assurance. Meet departmental standards for productivity and quality. Actively participate in committees or Six Sigma teams. Maintain acceptable specimen rejection rates.
Participate in departmental financial responsibilities through appropriate use of supplies and materials, avoid excessive waste, and engage in initiatives to reduce costs and improve service. Basic billing knowledge. Commitment to an error‑free work environment.
Communicate courteously and professionally with internal and external customers. Interact with co‑workers with an emphasis on teamwork and customer service. Resolve basic service issues. Attend meetings and stay current with internal/external communications.

Stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach frequently. Lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds. Must use manual dexterity and standard precautions due to exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, electrical and biological hazards. Ability to distinguish colors and adapt quickly to directions. Regular use of computer, printers, copiers, telephone, fax, and department‑specific equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum age 18
- High school diploma or equivalent (state regulatory requirements)
- Basic knowledge of department resource materials
- Completion of a phlebotomy program or phlebotomy experience
- Phlebotomy certification as defined by state regulations
- May require DHS fingerprinting certification or ability to obtain it
- Valid state driver’s license and eligibility for company auto insurance (based on location)
- Float positions require travel, flexible hours, coverage of multiple locations, and ability to work mobile or in‑office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice
- Flexible and available for staffing requirements, weekends, holidays, overtime, occasional on‑call duties, weekends, evenings, and early AM
- Progression through career ladder II‑IV subject to completion of career ladder requirements
