This is responsible technical and end user support work with responsibility for the support and maintenance of the City’s information technologies, including 800 MHz two-way radio systems and sub-systems, personal computers (PC’s), data equipment, voice communications equipment, and other telecommunications equipment and services. Work involves responsibility for preventive maintenance, response to equipment and systems operational problems, and end user support. The employee of this class is expected to work closely with vendors of support services and other employees of all City departments and divisions.
Work involves providing preventive maintenance, trouble condition response and support of the City’s two-way radio system and sub-systems, voice network, installed PC’s, local/wide area network systems, software systems and applications, and other appropriate technologies required to meet the needs of City government. Work involves application of policies and procedures to assure the delivery of appropriate and timely support services to end users of information technology (IT) equipment and systems.
- Support and maintain all City IT equipment and systems, including PCs, printers, network devices, phones, and two-way radios.
- Install, configure, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on hardware, software, wiring, and cabling for voice, data, and radio networks.
- Provide routine programming, moves/adds/changes, and troubleshooting for telephone and two‑way radio systems.
- Maintain accurate inventories, documentation, cabling plans, and repair/maintenance records for all IT assets.
- Assist with setup, installation, relocation, and reassignment of new and existing IT equipment across City facilities.
- Determine when external repair or vendor services are required and verify proper operation upon return; may provide first‑level, after‑hours support for 24/7 departments.
- Support staff by assisting with basic technology training and performing other assigned duties as needed.
- Performs other work as required and assigned.
