SCHEDULE: Hourly. Hours may vary based on program needs.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Nutritional Services, First Cook, Building Principals.
SUPERVISION: None.
SALARY: $16.49 - $17.38/hr.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; 1‑3 years’ work‑related experience. Preferred:
Bilingual, basic cashiering skills, knowledge of customer service principles.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Kitchen Helper is responsible for performing routine kitchen duties, such as the preparation and serving of breakfast and/or lunch to students and staff, dishwashing, general cashiering and cleaning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Preparation of food as directed by head cooks.
- Set up serving lines.
- Serve food to students and staff.
- Keep service area and food dispensers cleaned and stocked.
- Count/record the quantity of food sold on daily and weekly sheets.
- Compile food and supply orders.
- Receive money for cash sales in ala‑cart line.
- Assist with cleaning the kitchen, cooking equipment and entire serving area, including washing dishes with commercial dish‑machine.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, seeing, and repetitive motions. Light Work: lifting up to 40 pounds and/or exerting up to 20% of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
