ResponsibilitiesThe Technician, Facilities and Maintenance addresses the essential facilities needs component of Newport Academy’s programs. The role is responsible for completing preventative maintenance and repairs for all facilities as well as reporting any health and safety compliance requirements of the facility that need to be addressed.
Essential Duties- A working knowledge of requirements for the maintenance of all utilities including well systems, septic systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical service and hardware, backup generators and fuel supplies.
- Coordinate preventative facilities maintenance appointments for maintenance work that cannot be done in-house.
- Conduct periodic water temperature checks and recordings.
- Conduct periodic sprinkler system pressure/water level recordings.
- Assist in general facility maintenance and repairs, setup/movement of items, carpentry, plumbing, painting all performed whenever necessary.
- Ensure all work is completed in a timely manner and to Newport Healthcare standards.
- Schedule work effectively, limiting disturbance to programming and staff.
- Maintain professional working relationships with contractors.
- Conduct periodic facility-wide walk-through and documentation of all repairs necessary to maintain environment and ensure Newport Academy standards are met.
- Prioritize and complete tasks by importance.
- Conduct quarterly and yearly testing of the fire alarms and sprinkler systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two plus years’ experience in facilities maintenance.
Compensation for this role ranges from $22‑28 per hour depending on education and experience. We are committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation. Pay is determined by skills, experience, education, and market conditions, while considering internal equity to ensure fairness.
