production supervisor flsa status: non-exempt
Pay band: 7 wage range: $18.00-$25.00
Shifts:
2nd shift- 3pm-11pm monday-friday shift differential range: mn: 2nd: $1.50

Job summary:
A machine operator is responsible for direct cutter operations, is the contact person for the production related issues on the cutters in finishing.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
* provide work direction and assistance to cutter operations with trouble shooting on the cutter equipment to correct problems and educate the operators.
* perform ok's and job sample checks for other operators.
* develop new ways to improve productivity and operations efficiency of finishing equipment.
* train employees in cutter operations in best practices to ensure cutter equipment is operating efficiently.
* ability to operate a second piece of equipment as needed.
* perform basic and advanced setup of machines.
* sort mail using postal sort marks.
* read and follow job ticket / run list instructions (run list, sign off, mdi).
* perform all quality assurance processes consistently (continuities, sign offs, samples, etc.).
* troubleshoot moderate to complex machine/product issues efficiently
* coach/mentor other inserter operators.
* follow all established processes associated with the operation of the equipment.
* perform daily, weekly, and monthly total productive maintenance (tpm) tasks to maintain optimal equipment performance.
* work assigned shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.
* other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills abilities required:
* mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions.
* attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.
* ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications.
* basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking.
* ability to work independently and part of a team.
* strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
* excellent time management skills and organizational skills.
* proficiency/fluent with english language, both written and verbal.
Education and experience:
* h.s. Diploma or equivalent required.
* prior experience operating letter shop equipment preferred.
* knowledge of finishing equipment, materials and products preferred.
* one (1) plus year in an operator role in a manufacturing setting, preferred.

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job inside the manufacturing facility, the employee is frequently exposed to normal to moderate working conditions for a manufacturing facility with a noise level that is usually moderate to loud. The role routinely uses printing equipment and machines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee will regularly lift 70lbs or more at a time. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. Employees must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.
Occasionally while performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including paper dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of ppe. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places, and confined spaces. The nose level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.
