A Folder Operator is responsible for directing all folder and direct cutting operations from pre‑post‑production stages. The operator is the point of contact for production issues on folders in Finishing and Direct Mail, and trains employees on folder and direct cutting operations to ensure equipment operates effectively.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Set up, operate and maintain the Ehret Sheeting and bander, provide work direction and assistance to other Folder Operators with troubleshooting on the folders and all in‑line equipment, and educate operators; includes knowledge of ink‑jet print systems.
- Demonstrate leadership while working with roll tenders, inserter operators, temps and other operators.
- Set up the machine correctly and line up jobs according to job tickets, layouts and sign‑offs.
- Perform job sample checks and job OKs.
- Complete sort station and hand/battery lift training.
- Communicate job status, special instructions, and checklists for equipment condition.
- Run the machine through cross‑over whenever entering a machine that has been running.
- Attend and participate in monthly cost‑center meetings.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks to maintain optimal equipment performance.
- Follow all Nahan safety and quality standards.
- Work assigned shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
- Excellent time‑management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency/fluent with English, both written and verbal.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous related experience preferred.

The role is performed in a manufacturing facility with moderate to loud noise levels. Employees frequently use printing equipment and may stand for prolonged periods. Tasks include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and lifting 70 lb or more. Work requires verbal communication, hearing, and good vision. PPE may be required and employees may be exposed to machinery, moving parts, airborne particles, hazardous materials, fumes, adverse weather, high places or confined spaces.
