Position: Mercury Marine Assembler I - Molding- 2nd Shift

Position Overview

An Assembler is responsible for production-assembly. Work is highly repetitive; need to follow prescribed routines and assembly methods. Operator runs machines for specific machining of molded plastic parts after training. Must correctly place parts on machine fixture, secure with foot pedal or hand controls, possibly deburr or gauge parts during cycles. Must select program, change fixtures, run machines; not permitted to program unless authorized.

Must record process control data, read blueprint tolerances, use measurement tools properly, start-up and shut down equipment, and operate tools independently.

Essential Functions

Operators must be mechanically inclined with basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills. Must work in a team, follow directions, read work instructions, prepare container tickets, include part counts. Must multitask, use hand tools, scales, other process equipment such as fixtures, assembly presses, drill presses. Some tools require ambidexterity. Must stand or sit for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, handle fine hand manipulation and full range of motion.

Job involves use of chemicals.

Required Qualifications

Must communicate in English, with excellent written and verbal skills. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic reading and math skills. Normal to high manual dexterity. Ability to use hand tools, machinery, variable gauges. Qualified and competent after a training period based on job complexity.

Working Conditions

Position exposed to typical manufacturing area. Requires personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection. Work area may be hot during summer months. Hazards include ergonomic issues, burns, bruises, cuts, heavy lifting, fumes, slippery floors, machine hazards, chemicals, gases, bodily injuries. Protective measures include machine guards, ergonomic stretch program, documented hazards, proper tools, and training.

Range

$18.00 – $21.57 per hour. Actual base pay varies based on qualifications, experience, business needs, and location.
